Substitute religion

Whether it’s strict eating habits or our favorite sport, in which we can’t miss a game: Sometimes cultural phenomena determine our lives more than a religion or belief does. Perhaps this way of life is even our belief … which creates meaning in our lives.

So-called substitute religions are taking up more and more space in our society and, with their rituals and cult figures, sometimes take on religious functions.

But what do we call a substitute religion, what do they make and where does the demarcation from religion take place?

For the upcoming theme evening on Wednesday we want to work with Dr. Bigalke, religious scholar, get to the bottom of things and focus above all on the issues of football, nationality and veganism.
