Collection Project

UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe is the German partner of the UNHCR – the United Nations Refugee Agency. Since 1980, UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe has been working as a non-profit organization for people on the run and supports refugee projects worldwide.

The aim of the NGO is to protect the lives of refugees and to help ensure that refugees can lead a dignified life and take their fate back into their own hands. Three central tasks are implemented by the UN Refugee Agency:

  • Mobilizing civil society to provide financial support for UNHCR’s global, life-saving operations.
  • Promoting projects for refugees in Germany.
  • Information work on flight, causes of flight and the fate of refugees, which contributes to raising awareness and sensitizing civil society.

As the German partner of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), refugee protection is at the heart of the work of the UN Refugee Agency. International refugee protection is promoted through financial support from the UNHCR. Project funding is a key means of national refugee protection. The focus here is on advice and support for refugees, for example in the areas of legal and asylum procedures or psychosocial therapy for traumatized refugees. Education and health projects are further focal points of the funded projects.

UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe is largely dependent on donations for all of these activities, which is why we have chosen it as our collection donation project this semester.
