Collection Project - Caritasverband Leipzig e.V.

Each semester, the KSG Leipzig collectively selects a charity project for which donations are collected every Sunday during the collection. This semester, the choice fell on the Caritasverband Leipzig e.V.

The German Caritas Association (DCV) is the largest charitable organization in Germany. Approximately 740,000 people are employed at the roughly 25,453 (as of 2024) facilities and services operated by the 6,200 organizations affiliated with Caritas nationwide. Each year, approximately 12 million people seek contact and assistance from Caritas, both in person and through online counseling.

Caritas facilities include daycare centers, home care services, counseling centers, self-help groups, hospitals, nursing homes, residential homes for people with disabilities, children’s and youth homes, shelters for the homeless, after-school care centers, women’s shelters, hospices, and many more. These facilities and services are supported by several hundred thousand volunteers. Caritas’s work is not centrally managed. The 27 diocesan Caritas associations and 340 local Caritas associations organize the work on the ground.
