Collection Project - "Children's hospice Bärenherz"

Every semester, the KSG Leipzig collectively decides on a donation project for which money is collected during the Sunday collection. This semester, the decision fell on the children’s hospice Bärenherz. The following text was taken from the hospice’s website:

No family with a seriously ill child should have to go their way alone!

That is the vision of Bärenherz. But donations are urgently needed for this, because the costs for care, accommodation, provision, and psychosocial therapies are only partially covered by health insurance companies, and only until the death of the child. The children’s hospice receives no state subsidies.

The association Kinderhospiz Bärenherz Leipzig e.V. has made it its mission to secure the financial resources necessary for Bärenherz.

The Kinderhospiz Bärenherz Leipzig is one of 19 inpatient children’s hospices in Germany — and the only inpatient children’s hospice in Saxony. Bärenherz accompanies families with seriously ill children from the moment of diagnosis until the death of the child and beyond. With more than 80 employees working primarily in the areas of nursing, psychosocial support, and therapy, care, encouragement, and accompaniment of the children and families is ensured around the clock, 365 days a year. The costs for care, accommodation, provision, and psychosocial therapies are only partially covered by health and long-term care insurance, and only until the death of the child. The children’s hospice receives no state subsidies. This means that without donations, Bärenherz would not be able to care for affected families to the necessary extent or accompany them on their difficult journey.

Every family that needs help should receive help at Bärenherz — regardless of their financial situation. That is why the services for guests at the children’s hospice are free of charge. This is all the more important given that from the very first day of an inpatient stay, families receive no care allowance for those days.
