Collection Project - "Bahnhofsmission"
Charity in action at the train station
As our city grows, so do the problems in front of Leipzig Central Station. Here, the station mission is a place of diaconal action and thus tangible charity. Social changes determine the social hotspot at the station and thus also the work of the station mission.
The station mission helps people to live their lives with dignity and self-determination. Special attention is given to people with disabilities and people in emergency situations.
An important task of the Leipzig station mission is to provide emotional support and care for people who are in social or emotional distress. The problems faced by those seeking help are diverse: common issues include mental or physical problems, loneliness, homelessness, addiction, communication problems, or financial hardship.
The staff always try to find the right path for the person in need in their individual situation – whether by listening to them or by providing concrete further assistance, such as referral to addiction counseling or a day center for homeless people. The railway station mission works closely with the social services offered by the city of Leipzig.
