4. November um 18:30 - 22:00
Actually, this is a familiar scene for everyone: We walk into church on Sunday, we take our seats, the bulletin lists the various songs we’ll be singing during the service, a bell rings, the pastor comes out, and the organ starts playing. An opening song, a Kyrie, a Gloria, someone (sometimes) sings the responsorial psalm, there’s also a song during the offertory, and so on and so forth until the end of the Mass—but who and what is behind church music? What should churches do if they don’t have a cantor available? How should a Mass be musically arranged? What needs to be played at all? Are there songs that are better suited for the service than others?
We’d like to discuss all these questions with Jacobus Gladziwa, deanery and regional cantor in Leipzig, as well as his career as a church musician and how best to arrange the Mass musically. Come by, bring your questions and thoughts, and let yourself be surprised by the diversity of church music!
As always, everyone is welcome. So just pop round and get to know us. We look forward to seeing you!
